CLANNAD 〜AFTER STORY〜 01

Though the fall season of new animes has already begun, I wasn't able to watch any of the premieres since I've been busy finishing up the first season of Clannad (meanwhile, I'm still midway through Macross Frontier...). Anyway, I've spent three days to watch the last 11 episodes so I could start watching the new animes and of course, I choose to watch Clannad ~After Story~ first since my memory is still fresh.

Should Tomoya Okazaki (岡崎朋也) and Nagisa Furukawa (古河渚) do this in hotel... no, I'm just kidding. Well, I don't know what the anime would talk about since they're lovers now. It doesn't seem like they'd break up anytime soon. Maybe it'd be about the father-and-son thing again...

The opening is still using the same format but poor Fuko Ibuki (伊吹風子) is left out of sight since nobody in the anime can remember her anymore!?

But Fuko still has a cut scene in the op and I'm always curious about the identity of the girl that is in sailor uniform who also appears in the first season op.

Youhei Sunohara (春原陽平) still remains as Tomoyo Sakagami's (坂上智代) punching bag.

I think they might be some kind of lovers in the past but they're really minor characters in the first season. Maybe more time would be allocated to them.

This episode is actually about a baseball game and Akio Furukawa (古河秋生) is both their ace pitcher and power hitter.

Though Sunohara has great sport talents, it doesn't translate to baseball as he pops up while bunting on his first at-bat.

Fortunately, their second to fifth batters all reach on base and score on Tomoyo's home run, which is not only her first homer but also her first ever at-bat@@

However, Akio's stuck by a bat early in the game and has to leave the field and surprisingly, he asks Nagisa to replace him to pitch-_-

She must be pitching knuckleball...

Tomoyo's not only a power hitter but also an excellent fielder like Ichiro...

Kotomi Ichinose (一ノ瀬ことみ) must be a super computer and how could she have so much time to analyze the pitch and jam/hit a shot through the gap...

Tomoyo suddenly wants to show her feminine side and hits the ball like a girl!?

While the girls are showing their power, Tomoya can only punt or sacrifice since he cannot lift his right arm up.

Yusuke Yoshino (芳野祐介) looks fearful but he wastes too much time talking bullshit while running on the bases and is tagged out.

Besides the acting talent, Nagisa does inherit a little bit of her father's baseball talent while batting as number nine in the batting order.

Bottom of the nine inning and bases loaded with two outs... (Rookies?) and what!? A walk off home run by Tomoya to win the game!!! It's really similar to the basketball game they have in the first season when Tomoya hits a off balance over-the-shoulder buzzer beater to beat his school basketball team.

Comments: Another 24-episode season and this is great. The first episode is ok though I think the producer is kind of in a rush in the first half so as to gather all the characters for the ball game. (P.S. Actually, this is the first ever post that I've written for an anime's premiere. Hope I'll stick to it to the end. Meanwhile, the delay of the tv show posts might not be solved for a while.)
