2009 Fall New Anime 3

I dropped three (quite a lot) on the list this fall i.e. にゃんこい!, 聖剣の刀鍛冶 & クイーンズブレイド 玉座を継ぐ者 but what a coincidence that the ones that I dropped all ended in December and that I kept watching all had 2x episodes...

Nahoko Uehashi + Production I.G. = Must Watch! I've thought Seirei no Moribito is a good anime that nobody watches and was so glad when Production I.G. announced the adaptation of another Nahoko Uehashi's works. Even though it's aired on NHK and its target audience are supposed to be kids, the anime is not childish but very detailed on the history and politics of the kingdom, and specific and realistic on the culture and human nature. Erin the heroine is very charming and lovable but the tone of the story could sometimes be dark and the plots could be shocking for some instances. I don't know if the anime really follows the novel's ending but I'm really happy that Erin (and Liran) finds her true love and has a great family after what she's gone through.

生徒会の一存

Although this anime consists of non-stop nonsense, has no plot and only one setting, and seems to keep repeating itself every week, I actually think it's getting funnier towards the end. To me, it's kind of like Minami-ke and Lucky Star but with a male character as protagonist. Each female character has her own distinctive archetype and their interactions are actually predictable yet funny. The anime does sometimes become serious when revealing the characters' past. Those moments are kind of boring but as long as the producer doesn't try too hard, this is still a pretty good harem anime!

けんぷファー

The only thing that is good about this anime is the OP song only (well, the OP is drawn very poorly even worse that the ED...). While Yui Horie's and Kaori Nazuka's performances were great, Marina Inoue has done an awful job when voicing the male Natsuru in a weird pitch. In the end, the producer's just tried to wrap up a happy harem ending (I couldn't believe the messengers actually sing "Ode to Joy" in the final battle... another stupid German reference) so every female character could have a chance to rape kiss the poor ignoring protagonist orz

うみねこのなく頃に

... the way it ends implies that it'll have some sort of sequel... Well, this season is a joke because all the mysteries are still unsolved. I'm so sick of watching those cruel magic, witches, butlers, etc but not a single clue for the audience to reason. By the way, the finale is a complete nonsense because Batora tries to reveal the mysteries within half of an episode but all the things that he's said are bullshit (well, it's so convenient to assume there's a murder X on the island). But ironically, it works and even kills Beatrice. And in the end, we still don't know who's the murderer but a stupid bed scene of two witches... This game is so meaningless in the beginning and I don't care who's gonna win anymore! See you again!? You must be kidding me!!!
